Forge

This forge is constantly changing. A great design reference is Ron Riels web site, also has several pictures of different designs. Right now, mine is approx. 12 inches in diameter by 14 inches long, and has two layers of Koa wool for insulation. These koa wool layers are coated with ITC 100, a kiln surfacing product. I used kiln shelving on the floor in order to with stand more abuse from sloppy tong technique and Borax (which eats everything it contacts at high temperatures.) It's next incarnation may have a castable refractory lining, as I'm tired of replacing Koa Wool liners.
